Happy new year! The fireworks in London were good this year - if you haven't seen them already, there's a video of them below. I suspect they're warming up for the London 2012 Olympics. If you've kept an eye on my Twitter account you'll have seen a few interesting links and the website of the month for the last few months: - October 2010 - November 2010 - December 2010 - January 2011 I did a brief bit of research on the spam comments that I tired of a while ago and it seems that reCAPTCHA, which I was using to protect the blog from spam, can be beaten by bots a significant proportion of the time. The usage statistics for this blog suggest heavy activity by bots attempting (and thankfully failing) to obtain contact details and submit comments containing advertising material. Unfortunately I'm still too busy at the moment to work on a solution for this issue (which could include temporarily blocking IPs that fail the CAPTCHA test too many times or request too many non-existent URLs), so comment submission is still disabled. Finally, back in September I added a link to a page I have on the University of Cambridge Public Workstation Facility to the g400.co.uk homepage - I thought I should make some use of it before I graduate and I'm putting a link to it here now too, for the record. Good luck for 2011 everyone! Mark Hogan Sat, 01 Jan 2011 14:39 GMT | Category: GeneralShare Tweet No comments.
